Auctioneers, Newbridge successfully sold 27 acres of good quality land just
outside the village of Killeen between Maganey & Ballickmoyler on the
Laois/ Carlow/ Kildare border on Wednesday last for a price of €375,000 equating
to just under €14,000 per acre.
Before
an attendance of around 25 people in the Seven Oaks Hotel, Carlow the property
opened with an initial bid of €200,000 with three active bidders up to €375,000
and after a brief consultation with the vendor the property was declared on the
market and with no further bidding was sold to a local farmer for €375,000.
The
lands benefits from good accessibility to the road network leading to Carlow,
Athy & Portlaoise and were all in grass in two divisions with natural
boundaries and hedgerows. Speaking after the auction Clive Kavanagh of the
selling agents described the land ‘as
good quality, in an area where little comes for sale and the property had
generated extensive local interest throughout the marketing campaign’.
